Indoor or Outdoor?

Can cats be happy indoors?  Would a cat be happier outside?  The answer to both is probably yes.  However there are many strong opinions for both sides of this debate.  One in-between solution is a fenced-in yard or other outside enclosure.

Cats with white ear tips and/or noses should be kept out of the sun.  Just like light-skinned humans, they are more susceptible to skin cancer.  There is even a pet sun block on the market.
